Joseph Alfred Lamy circa 1890

Here is a tremendous Lamy pere with a Vuillaume style frog, an elegant bow made when he was at his peak of his career. His bows are a delight to use, his output highly desirable simply because they work so well, the tone they produce is pliable and luxurious. At this time in his mid thirties he had just won the silver prize at the 1889 Paris exhibition.

He subsequently went on to win Gold prize in the 1900 exhibition. This bow from one of the best makers at his zenith, having just set up on his own at 34 Rue Poissonniere after the death of F. N. Violin.

Complete with a certificate from Jean-francois Raffin this is a first class soloist bow on a budget since it has 3mms. binding 20mms away from the head due to a lift in the pernambuco, customarily if in first class condition this type of lamy pere sells around the £20,000 mark, so a substantial saving made, due to the binding the stick is totally secure.
